The family behind the Barlow Vineyards label are farmers at heart. They have farmed their estate since they purchased the land in 1994. Barlow Vineyards was founded by Warren Barlow Smith and Jeanne Smith, long time lovers and visitors of the Napa Valley, along with their son Barr Smith and daughter-in-law Ann Smith. Their entry into wine production came as a result of making a small amount of 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon, originally only meant for family and friends. The winemaker at the time, Art Finklestein, suggested they sell it instead. They quickly sold all 25 cases. Today’s production of their estate grown wine has increased to 1500 cases annually, which includes two 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wines, a Cabernet blend, a Merlot, and a Zinfandel.

Our journey into wine began with a love of wine and an appreciation of the places that create unique wines. In the early 1990’s, wine quality exploded higher in Sonoma and Napa. It was an exciting time to be a consumer of wines from Northern California and a great time to come and meet the vintners who were responsible for these inspiring new wines. We began in 1999 with the purchase of forty acres in Bennett Valley.  In 2011, we acquired a small Russian River Valley vineyard, and, starting with the 2014 vintage, we have added vineyard designated wines from top vineyards in the Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast.  Vineyard sources now include Ritchie Vineyard and Bacigalupi Vineyard for Chardonnay, and Sun Chase and Sonoma Stage for Pinot Noir.  In 2015, we also added the iconic Platt Vineyard as a source for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  We believe that Platt may be the best vineyard in California for those varietals.

We excited to be moving to our new home at 435 W. Dry Creek Road in Healdsburg CA. The site has ten acres of vineyards, sweeping views of Dry Creek Valley, and a beautiful tasting room.  We look forward to hosting you here and sharing our wines with you

Francis Ford Coppola has been in the wine business for over 30 years. He purchased his first winery, the old Inglenook Estate in 1975, after making the well know movie – The Godfather. He has continued the legacy of the Inglenook Estate by producing many famous and highly rated wines, including Rubicon and CASK Cabernet. In 2006, Francis bought another winery, the old Chateau Souverain Winery in Sonoma, outside of Geyserville. He renamed it the Francis Coppola Winery and has transformed it into a showcase, complete with a swimming pool, botchy ball courts and a museum with many of pieces from his movie memorabilia career on display there.

In Mendoza we have found the place that we were looking for, a place where traditional values of Wine can be reinvigorated with a modern approach, to produce a unique, contemporary Wine. We believe that our Mission here is to build, and to keep on building as this Terroir keeps responding to our work, and rewarding our work with its beauties.

“A job for Ants” is the Argentine saying for humble, patient, extended work; therefore the Ant is our symbol and our good luck charm. We work with great pride, but we are aware that keeping an open mindset, humble enough to be always willing to learn new lessons, is the secret to grow as persons and as winemakers.

Our vineyards and wineries are first and foremost family-owned and operated. When Jess Jackson entered the wine business three decades ago, his goal was to create a family enterprise specializing in handmade wines of unmatched character.

In addition to handcrafting fine wines from some of the world’s most acclaimed regions, our family’s other passions include a commitment to sustainability, giving back to our communities, and thoroughbred horses.

Whether our focus on responsible farming and vineyard management, engaging in philanthropy that has a positive impact where we live and do business, or world-class horse breeding and training, we believe that love and hard work can accomplish great things.

We planted our first vineyard back in 1981 with mission to make world-class Bordeaux-style blends. Since then, we’ve expanded both our knowledge of viniculture in this unique region as well as our acreage. At JUSTIN®, we combine traditional Old World methods—like hand-harvesting and small-barrel aging in French oak—with New World technology. For example: the “Air Knife,” an ingenious process invented by our winemakers, boosts grape quality and efficiency

Landmark Vineyards was founded in 1974 in Windsor, CA and in 1989 relocated from Windsor, a town that was slowly being smothered by urban sprawl, to a spectacular piece of land at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Sonoma Valley. Landmark became a small jewel of a winery and was built in the Spanish mission style. The winery is equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment capable of producing 25,000 cases of wine per year. With the help of renowned Landscape architect, Morgan Wheelock, Landmark Vineyards developed into a lush, gorgeously landscaped wine estate.

In today’s global economy, working directly with producers and selling directly to fine restaurants and wine shops is the only way to ensure the provenance, quality and fair market price by eliminating middle men, using only temperature-controlled shipments, and building long term relationships with producers and clients.

The Joy of Wine – Our philosophy of wine and food goes back to Koerner Rombauer’s ancestors from the wine growing region of Reingau, Germany, where wine is considered an essential complement to a meal. The Joy of Wine is a direct connection to The Joy of Cooking, written by Koerner’s great aunt, Irma Rombauer.

“The beginning of vine planting is like the beginning of mining for precious metals: the winegrower also ‘prospects’.”

- Robert Louis Stevenson,
The Silverado Squatters, 1880

A century later, the Miller family began the journey Stevenson described, establishing Silverado Vineyards in 1981. “It was beautiful land, and it was land that was working,” says Diane Miller of their first vineyards, purchased in the 1970s. Diane and Ron sold their grapes to some of Napa’s best vintners, who made award winning wines from them year after year. Encouraged, they struck out on their own with the goal of making the best wines the estate could produce at a fair price. This has remained the guiding philosophy over the years. The winery’s name, Silverado, comes from the abandoned mining town at the top of the Napa Valley, where Stevenson stayed so many years ago. It is an appropriate symbol: three generations of the Miller family are still “prospecting” for wine, staying true to the idea of coaxing something precious from the soils we are privileged to care for.

Sonoma-Cutrer is dedicated to the pursuit of original expression in our wines. Each wine reflects its regional and seasonal climate, its specific vineyard character – its terroir. From the very first vintage of Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay to the limited production of our world-class Pinot Noir, this dedication has taken root and continues to grow. Our “Grand Cru” philosophy is a unique assimilation of traditional Burgundian winemaking methods and our own technological innovation. It’s a perfect balance of tradition and discovery, bringing forth noble wines that express a sense of place.

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates is the ‘String’. Our collection of estate wineries are the ‘Pearls.’ We call this our ‘String of Pearls,’ describing a collection of estate wineries whose vineyards produce some of the best wines in the world.

Significantly, it also highlights our company philosophy: We believe that each “pearl’s” luster is best revealed when the vineyard and wine-making decisions are made on site by the people who grow the grapes and make the wine. The Ste. Michelle Wine Estates company is simply the “string,” providing administrative and financial support for these extraordinary wine properties.

The culmination of over 50 years of experience in fine wine – and the beginning of a new legacy.

Through four generations, the Terlatos have brought the world’s finest wines to the American table as importers, marketers and vintners. Rather than focusing on a single grape or place, Tony Terlato and his family have assembled an all-star team of winemakers with the tools to create best-in-class wines from iconic appellations – to capture “magic in a glass,” as Tony says. These wines reflect the family’s highest values, and their vision of all that can be realized from soil, grape and commitment.

Starmont- Sitting at the crossroads of Carneros and Napa Valley, Starmont occupies a portion of the historic Stanly Ranch. Established as a wine growing region over 150 years ago, Carneros is world renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With foggy mornings and cool afternoon bay breezes creating the perfect conditions for these varietals, Starmont wines are expressive, food-friendly and distinctly Carneros.

The Starmont story began over 25 years ago, starting as an integral part of the Merryvale brand. Led by the Starmont Chardonnay and delivering high quality Carneros and Napa Valley wines at approachable prices, Starmont complemented the more mature Merryvale portfolio.  For a decade and a half, these two brands shared space at our venerable St. Helena facility. It was a perfect partnership, but as Starmont grew from a single wine into a full-fledged brand, it became time to move out.
